You Will Never Change the World, It Has Always Been Evil

Y ou Will Never Change The World. It Has Always Been Evil You probably have had the conviction to change “things” because you like it when things are done in a transparent manner. Evil detests you. It makes you feel so bad that to an extent that you get annoyed and ready to “harm” whoever is responsible for it. In a hospital, you see people struggling to hold on to life, calling for assistance from the clinicians, and the nurses, but nobody cares. You have heard of the phrase, “he/she won’t be the first one to die. We have seen worse cases,” and this made you so mad.   You have seen people who deserved something being shortchanged in spite of them meeting the set criteria. Recently in Kericho county, when names for nominated legislators were submitted, the person who was nominated for the member of the county assembly under the category of people living with disabilities, had no disability at all. Those who deserved the position were left languishing in the village despi...

Stylish Arsenal Beat Brentford to go Top The premier league returned to action this weekend after going for a week's break following the Queen's passing. Today, Sunday 18th, saw Arsenal play against Brentford, a team that beat them last season, in their first game. That loss put pressure on the boss Mikel Arteta. Today, however, the fortunes changed, and Arsenal won the game, despite missing Martin Odegaard, an essential play in their midfield.  From the start of the game, the league leaders dominated the play and were ready to bounce back from an unlikely defeat by Manchester United two weeks earlier. Fourteen Unwritten Street Rules for Survival in a Work Environment

In any work environment, there are unwritten rules, popularly known as street rules that you must master if you are to survive there for long. A story is told of a guy who revealed his future intentions of taking a loan and building a home for his family, to a "friend" employee. A few weeks later, he was fired on allegations of being corrupt. After a year of investigation, he was found not guilty. Here are the twelve rules that will keep you in the game for long, without brushing shoulders with your "colleagues" friends in the workplace. Always do just enough not to get fired Play a 'sod' Your colleagues and workmates are your secret enemies Keep your house private. You should never invite your colleagues to your home.  Keep your WhatsApp private. By private we mean, never disclose your small steps or winnings on WhatsApp. Limit the statuses, but if need be, let them be flat. Avoid receiving or communicating work-related stuff on your WhatsApp. If they comm...

"We Shall All Die" is a Joke That Should Never be Entertained

Image credit: Courtesy I have heard guys talk of how futile one's effort can be because of the argument that after all we shall all Diego! Isn't this fallacious reasoning? Of course, to some, it isn't because one may view it from a philosophical context. Go into any medical ward & see how adults are crying because of the complications of metabolic diseases. Their only wish is to get their health back. Fatalism is a philosophical concept that tries to explain the argument. Unless looked at it from an angle of sanity, such can promote a lazy populace.  Philosophies similar to these are in existence since man is not purely a logical creature. Almost everything we do is reduced to some kind of emotional component. As a result, virtually all of us have no problem with using a metric such as "well-being" as the basis of whatever we do, our behaviors, and ...

The Gang and the Beard

Photo Credit: Courtesy  Every year in September, the world celebrates one of the distinctive factors of men; the beards. September 3rd is the exact date that men come together to celebrate their masculinity. It's prudent to point out that for the last few years, there have been several challenges put out to men on matters beards. So why do men put so much emphasis on beards? Is it a show of masculinity? One photo with a face masked with beards has been doing rounds today as we celebrate the day, with the tag," with a great beard, comes great responsibility." What does this statement mean?   The great responsibility tag emanates from the baggage that the beard gang carries whose accusations span from harboring a host of bacteria in his beard to being a playboy, presumably because women find them attractive. This inculcates a sense of responsibility because they can't go ar...

Does Women Empowerment Intimidate Men?

In a bid to restore the masculinity of men, there have been and still, are many campaigns pointing out what has popularly been known as simping. Is there a definition for a simp? Yeah, there is quite a number. Traditionally, women were confined to the kitchen and the house chores whereas the man's role was to provide. During the 21st century, there have been so many girl-child and women empowerment initiatives whose motive has never been known to men. The rise of feminists who think they know more than the original designer of humanity who gave man the utmost authority to lead and govern has worsened the situation and led to an increase in beta males, men who no longer take charge of their lives and families but depend on women to help them sort raise their families.  I have had several engagements with men and most of them feel that empowering the girlchild as the boychild is neglected is causing more harm than good. Many men feel threatened when women help them in sorting the bil...

Will the Supreme Court Verdict be Unanimous?

Dr.William Samoei Ruto                                (photo credit: Courtesy) It has been five days of knowledge dispensation by the learned friends as the supreme court played the host of the teams defending and making appeals. The August 9th general elections results announced by the independent electoral and boundaries commission's chairperson Mr. Wafula Chebukati was met with a lot of resistance from the azimio fraternity who claimed that the whole process was bungled. Led by their lawyer senior counsel James Agrey Orengo, the lawyers presented facts on how the process lacked what lawyer Willis Otieno termed as legitimacy. Among the evidence submitted to support the claims were the footprints left in the system as the intruders by the names Jose Carmago and CSilva tampered with the resul...

An Election Period that Never Ends

Photo Credit: Courtesy  This is a cry, a cry for my motherland Kenya. A country is full of potential, a great nation endowed with numerous natural resources and human resources to the envy of its neighbors. Its dubbed a major economic hub and a giant in the Eastern Africa region. Its democracy has grown over time, from a time when the political class was marred with dictatorial characters, to bungled elections which put the country in a dark state in 2007 to an era when the electoral grievances can be taken to court and be addressed to the overall benefit of the normal citizen. It became the first country to have its presidential election results nullified in 2017, prompting a repeat sixty days later. As we speak, the just concluded 2022 elections have followed the same trajectory and the case is in the supreme court awaiting the verdict on Monday, 5th Septemb...

Succession 2022

The politics of succession began in 2018 when the deputy president cried foul of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and, former prime minister, Raila Amollo Odinga, one of the presidential aspirants. The former premier is perceived as being a project of the state because of the support of the incumbent. The politicians, currently are traversing different parts of the current spreading their gospel. As we enter the homestretch, with only seven days to the elections, different politicians have mastered the art of convincing the masses to an extent of speaking in the language of the regions they visit. Recently, the deputy president nominee for Azimio la Umoja faction while addressing a mammoth crowd in Eldoret, exhilarate the supporters when she greeted the Kalenjin-speaking nation in their local dialect. When they were in Elburgon, and Mahi Mahiu, she also greeted the adherents in the Agikuyu and Kalenjin.  The deputy president on the other hand, while addressing the res...
